About Ivan Llanes

Percussionist, singer, composer, and instructor Ivan Llanes is one of the most versatile and in-demand musicians in the New York city (NYC) music scene. A native of Camaguey, Cuba, Llanes has performed and/or toured with world famous names including, Arturo O’Farrill and The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Katreese Barnes, Jerry Barnes, Isaiah Sharkey, Valerie Simpson, Colin Hay, Carlos Vives, Descemer Bueno, Carlinhos Brown and Nella, to name a few. 


Prior to relocating to the United States in 2011, Llanes was a member of the Grammy-nominated Orlando “Maraca” Valle and Otra Vision, with whom he toured for several years, performing in notable festivals worldwide. After graduating in 2004 at the top of his class, Llanes was also the percussionist for the Havana-based band Sur Caribe.


Llanes is currently working on his own project, the Cuban Way. It is a widely anticipated project, reflecting the wide variety of Llanes’s musical influences. The Cuban Way incorporates traditional elements of Timba and Folklore in a creative setting that showcases Llanes’s energy and passion. Llanes is also lead singer of the NYC based Latin music supergroup People of Earth, performing around NYC most prominent venues including Highline Ballroom, Brooklyn Bowl, and Rockwood Music Hall.


As well as performing all over the States and Cuba, Llanes has toured in France, the Netherlands, Russia, (under the auspices of the USA State Department), Brazil, Azerbaijan, Antigua, Barbuda and Switzerland.

About Tainnã Chagas

Percussionist, instructor and songwriter Tainnã Chagas brings a rich wealth of percussive experience gained in her native Brazil and internationally. Chagas moved to New York, USA in 2016, and quickly started to get involved with several different music scenes including Latin jazz, pop and soul music. She has collaborated with important names as Jerry Barnes, Katreese Barnes, Arturo O’Farrill and the Latin Jazz Orchestra, Orkestra Rumpilezz, Bobby Sanabria, Atiyed, DJ Throttle, Claire Khodara and John the Martyr. In the classical scene, Chagas has collaborated with Jean Yves Thibaudet, Martha Argerich, Maxim Vengerov, Midori Goto, Ricardo Castro and Colin Currie. 


She is currently working with new artist Nina Lee. Additionally, Chagas has taken part in several recording projects, such Nabiyah Be, Ponte, Casa e Florby Saulo Fernandes, Bailinho de Quinta, Sertanilia (recorded first album) and the Youth Orchestra of Bahia (6.28', 6.42', 9.24'). In the popular field, Chagas has played with leading international artists from the Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) scene, such as Moraes Moreira, Saulo Fernandes, Ivete Sangalo, Luis Caldas, Claudia Leitte and Carlinhos Brown, and highly influential artists from Bahia, such as Amanda Santiago, Mari Antunes (Sarypa), SandyAlê, Marcela Martinez, Val Macambira and Salada Mista, amongst others.


Since studying Percussion at the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil, Chagas has diversified her percussive research and experience through different fields and styles, taking part in festivals, masterclasses and concerts across Brazil and abroad. In addition to touring the United States and Brazil, Chagas has performed in the UK, Spain, Switzerland, Italy and France, including a special concert for Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany.
